About Me
As a 4th-year student at the University of Florida pursuing a dual degree in Biological Engineering and Spanish, I have been able to bring together my interests into a unique path of study, leading to an exciting future career. This portfolio serves as a representation of my accomplishments and experiences during my time in university. Experience
Given my diverse interests and skill sets, I have engaged in a variety of experiences during my time in university. Beginning in the summer of my freshman year, I interned with a faculty member in the UF Department of Agricultural & Biological Engineering, focusing in development of plant phenomics technology. I have been fortunate to continue research efforts since then in the lab, working on development of a field-based phenotyping platform. With my passion for learning about other cultures, I have also participated in two different study abroad programs, with a spring semester exchange at Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, Spain and a summer study abroad at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in Valparaíso, Chile. I will also be participating in an interdisciplinary experience this coming winter in Panama to learn about the impacts of the Panama Canal in both of my fields of study. Involvement in extracurriculars at university have also formed a strong pillar of my experience, with active participation in UF NaviGators International, UF Freshman Leadership Engineering Group, UF Student Honors Organization, Gator Wesley Foundation, and UF Club Triathlon Team.
Future Goals
As an Officer Candidate part of the US Navy Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate (NUPOC) Program, I will seek commission as a Submarine Warfare Officer in the United States Navy upon graduation from the University of Florida. I am excited about the prospect of serving my country and employing the unique skillset I have gained from education and experiences in the fleet. I also plan to eventually pursue a Masters and Doctorate Degree in either Biological Engineering or Ocean Engineering so that I can combine my knowledge and interests from my current field of study with my naval experience to develop new technology for environmental and commercial benefit.
